2019 “Model of The Year”
We are gushing over @adutech this week as she graces the face of our "Women that Inspire" Story for the week.
Copying a short excerpt from her recent post on Instagram last week, she wrote; Meet the south Sudanese refugee who comes from nothing, who becomes your 2019 “Model of The Year” last night at the BFA.
We are super proud of Akech, she inspires the true spirit of Vanilla Vogue; any normal girl can have a dream and make that dream come true.
Akech who was born in South Sudan (formerly part of Sudan), was raised in Kakuma, Kenya. She moved away from Kenya along with her mother to Adelaide, Australia as South Sudanese refugees. She started her modeling career at age 16 and has been a rising star in the fashion industry.
She has done campaigns for Valentino, Zara, Moschino, and walks for Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Kenzo, Prada, Lanvin, Loewe, MiuMiu, Tom Ford, Burberry, etc She has also shot editorials for American Vogue, British Vogue, Vogue Italia, Vogue Paris, I-D Magazine, Le Monde, M Magazine, Modern Mattern, etc
More recently On Monday 2rd December 2019, she won the 'Model of the Year' award at British Fashion Awards , in London.
